How to Add a Clock to Notion

How to Add a Clock to Notion

Notion is famous for its ability to enrich its pages with different widgets (you may even design pages that look like a simple website in Notion). Project managers who use Notion are delighted by this possibility. In this article, I will talk about one quite useful Notion feature, in particular, about how to add a clock to Notion. (If you prefer watching video tutorials, you may find one at the end of this article.)

Why Add a Clock to Notion

Let’s try to figure out why one would want to add a clock to Notion first. Since I’m a project manager, there are a few use cases that come to mind:

1. Time Tracking on Daily Meeting. A Daily Meeting is a time-boxed event. And if you are a project manager leading the meeting and sharing the screen, it may be quite useful to add this widget so that each team member can see how much time remains.

2. Tracking Time Zone Differences. If you work in a remote team and have colleagues from different time zones, you can add different clocks for each and every time zone on the page. So that you can quickly figure out what time it is in each time zone where your colleagues are located.

3. Tracking Time Frames in the Pomodoro Technique. For those who use these time-boxing

Productivity techniques, such as the Pomodoro technique, for example, it also make sense to add such a clock to a page that allows you to track your working and resting time intervals.

There are definitely many more scenarios when you may need this clock widget. Some people, like designers, may simply want to beautify their pages with a fancy clock design and use it as a regular watch to track the time.

How to Embed A Clock Widget in Notion

Now, let’s return to the main question of how to get a clock in Notion. Unfortunately, Notion doesn’t currently have any inbuilt clock widgets. So the only thing we can do is useThird-party services.

There is a service https://indify.co/, which specializes in creating widgets for Notion (I’m pretty sure it’s not the only one where you can get widgets, though). You can find a lot of useful widgets there, and the clock widget is among them.

To add a clock to your Notion page, simply select a Clock widget in Indify and apply all necessary settings. You can see that a variety of different Clock designs are available – analogue, digital, and even a fancy flip clock.

Let`s add a flip clock to Notion.

To embed the Clock, simply copy a widget link from Indify, then navigate to the Notion page where you want to embed it. Next, type “/embed” in the corresponding block and paste the link.

Voila! The clock is added to the page. You may then adjust its size by using either Notion`s or widgets’ controls on the sides of the block.

It also makes sense to add this Clock widget to the pages with 2-column, 3-column, or even more sophisticated page layouts, so that it doesn`t interfere with your main activities in the document.

How to Add A Countdown Widget in Notion

For some of the use cases that I mentioned above, a countdown widget would be more useful than just a clock. Fortunately, Indify has it as well. To embed a countdown widget, you need to repeat the same steps as you did for the Clock widget. The only difference is that when setting up this Countdown widget, you also need to define the countdown target time.

Summary

Now that you know how to add the Clock or Countdown widget to your Notion, I really hope this will help you to improve both your experience with Notion and your productivity. Please share your best tips on how you use Clock widgets and other time-boxing widgets in Notion in the comments.
